Removing moss from your lawn
Moss takes over a lawn when the grass is in poor condition: the soil is acidic, compacted, shady or poor in nutrients. Simply tearing out the moss does not help for long, so this guide also fixes the causes.
You will need
- A moss rake or scarifier
- A soil pH test
- Lime as needed
- Lawn seed and a thin layer of soil or sand
- Lawn fertiliser
Steps
Find the cause
See whether the moss is worst in the shade, in a wet hollow or across the whole lawn. Shade, wetness, compacted soil, mowing too short and acidic soil are the most common causes.
