Pyrography: wood burning
In pyrography, designs are burned into wood with a hot tip, and you can use it to decorate chopping boards, spoons and pictures. The technique is easy to start, as long as you choose suitable wood and take care of safety.
You will need

- Light, even-grained wood, e.g. birch, aspen or lime
- Fine sandpaper (e.g. 240)
- A pencil and carbon paper for transferring the design
- A non-flammable surface and good ventilation
