Darning a wool sock

Good wool socks last for years when holes are darned in time. Darning is also an eco-friendly and quick skill that you can learn in one evening.

You will need

Steps

  1. Choose the yarn

Choose a wool yarn that is as fine as the sock yarn or slightly finer. Yarn that is too thick creates a hard spot that rubs inside your shoe.

  2. Put a support inside the sock

  3. Mark out the area to reinforce

  4. Make the vertical threads

  5. Weave horizontally

  6. Keep the tension even

  7. Try Swiss darning

  8. Finish off and care for the socks
