Starting your baby on solid foods
Tasting solid foods is started individually, and the child health clinic (neuvola) gives its own instructions for it. When you go step by step, your baby gets used to new tastes and textures without any rush. This guide explains the signs of readiness, the order and the safety points.
You will need

Steps
Recognise the signs of readiness
According to the recommendation of THL (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare), tasting is started individually at 4–6 months of age, and at the latest at 6 months. Your baby is ready when they can stay in a sitting position with support, are interested in food and do not push the spoon out with their tongue.
