Importing a car to Finland

A car imported from abroad can be good value, but car tax and bureaucracy must be taken into account before you buy. This guide goes through the import steps so that your car does not end up standing idle because of paperwork.

You will need

Steps

  1. Estimate the car tax in advance

  2. Check the car's history

  3. Arrange transport

  4. File a car tax return

  5. Pay the car tax

  6. Go to a registration inspection

  7. Register the car
