Unblocking a drain
A slow drain is usually caused by hair, grease or soap. You can usually clear the blockage without a plumber.
You will need
- Plunger
- Drain snake or plastic drain-clearing strip
- Bucket and towels
- Rubber gloves
- Spanner or pliers for the trap
Steps
Remove visible dirt
Remove the plug or cover from the drain and lift out the hair and dirt. This is often enough for a blocked shower or basin.
Try hot water
Use a plunger
Clean the trap
Use a drain snake
Avoid strong chemicals
