Trumpet: your first pieces

Your first trumpet pieces are played in the low and middle registers. Fanfares and folk songs work well.

You will need

• Your instrument
• Sheet music, tabs or an app
• Metronome

Steps

1. Choose a piece

   Choose a melody that uses the notes C to G.

2. Learn the valve combinations

3. Mark your breaths

4. Play slowly

5. Practise articulation

6. Rest in between

7. Play with accompaniment
