Make a traditional himmeli
The himmeli is an old Finnish Christmas decoration made by threading straws on string into geometric shapes. This guide teaches you the basic shape, from which you can build a simple or a multi-layered himmeli.

- Rye straws or craft straws
- Strong cotton or linen thread
- A long needle or wire for threading

Steps
Prepare the straws
Soak dry rye straws in warm water for about half an hour so they soften and do not split. Dry them lightly with a towel before cutting.
Cut equal lengths

Build a pyramid
