Treating wounds and stopping bleeding

Most wounds can be treated at home by cleaning and covering them. Heavy bleeding is stopped by applying pressure.

You will need

• Clean water
• Plasters and gauze pads
• Gauze bandage or elastic bandage
• Disposable gloves

Steps

1. Protect yourself

   Wear gloves if possible.

2. Stop heavy bleeding

3. Apply a pressure bandage

4. Call 112 if needed

5. Clean a small wound

6. Cover the wound

7. Watch it heal
