Applying for the maternity grant

The maternity grant is a Kela benefit that you can get as a maternity package (the famous baby box) or as cash. Applying is easy once you have your clinic certificate ready in time.

You will need

• A certificate of pregnancy from the maternity clinic
• Online banking credentials for OmaKela
• A delivery address for the package

Steps

1. Check the conditions

   You can get the grant when the pregnancy has lasted at least 154 days and you have had a health check before the end of the fourth month of pregnancy. Check the current conditions at kela.fi.

2. Ask the clinic for a certificate

3. Choose the package or cash

4. Consider a multiple pregnancy

5. Apply in OmaKela

6. Track the delivery

7. Go through the contents
